We acknowledge the right of every young cricketer, irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation, or ability, to enjoy the game in a secure setting free from harm.
We are devoted to ensuring that our club representatives foster a nurturing, enjoyable, and safe cricket experience for the youth.
We are committed to adopting and consistently applying the “Safe Hands – Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding Children” as established by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), including all subsequent updates.
A Club Safeguarding Officer will be appointed, who will be equipped with the skills necessary for their role through ongoing ECB-endorsed training.
All club affiliates, including staff, officials, volunteers, team managers, and coaches, will be made aware that the “Safe Hands Policy” is applicable to them, tailored to their level of interaction with the youth in cricket.
Recruitment and appointments within the club will adhere to ECB guidelines and relevant legal requirements.
We will provide continuous support and training to our club affiliates to ensure they are informed and can comply with the ECB’s best practice and conduct standards, as well as those set by ELCC.
The Club Safeguarding Officer’s contact details will be readily available as:
o The initial contact for parents, children, and club volunteers/staff.
o A local advisor on procedural matters for the club, its committee, and members.
o The primary liaison for the ECB County Safeguarding Officer, the ECB Child Protection Team, and pertinent external child safeguarding agencies.
We will maintain precise and thorough procedures for reporting and addressing child safeguarding concerns, in line with the responsibilities of statutory agencies and the guidelines of the ECB, statutory bodies, and the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB).
All club members, including parents, children, and volunteers, will be encouraged to express any concerns regarding potential child abuse or substandard practices to the Club Safeguarding Officer.
All concerns and allegations of a suspicious nature will be taken seriously and addressed promptly and appropriately.
Access to sensitive information concerning child safeguarding will be limited to the Club Safeguarding Officer and designated external authorities, such as the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), in accordance with ECB safeguarding protocols.
This statement reflects ELCC’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the welfare of all young cricketers under our care.
